Desde el escombro (From the rubble)
2017
Solo exhibition at Crisis gallery – Lima
“From the rubble” is an exploration of the materials used in objects found in our daily environment; it deals with disposed objects and artifacts, which are read as ruins of an immediate past. In this way, the show builds visual proposals that give us a new perception of the material, found, molded, modified, tangible and visible.
There is an intention to make visible in these materials characteristics that make them partially recognizable as elements of a nearby environment. They are part of the city but also from intimate spaces. There is also the intention to deny part of its formal characteristics, to deconstruct them in a way.
The exhibition is based on the ephemeral, but at the same time on what remains permanent, on the present and the imperceptible. It explores the limit that separates two contradictions, fragments of the daily environment that persist immobile in time.
The construction materials that are used, with no traces of dirt or human footprints, emerge from their ruins. They are new entities of a renewed silent white space. Discarded objects, broken figures and raw materials that reflect in their corporeity a memory that is transformed and not to be dissolved.
“From the rubble” is conceived from what can be thought of as an already lifeless element and suggests poetic readings of the meeting of two realities: one that has already disappeared and another one that remains despite time.
